Photo of the Week, 30/10/16 – Luang Prabang, Laos

This week we’ve taken things a little slower. Two months of non-stop travel, moving from place to place every three or four days, made us feel a little weary; we needed a rest. For the last two weeks, we’ve been travelling with another British couple we met in Koh Tao, Thailand on our scuba diving course. Having companions really adds to the experience and we’ve enjoyed the company.

Again, we’re sat in a wonderful cafe in a different part of Laos. Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site is a large yet quaint town in northern Laos. It is the perfect location for a chilled out place to recuperate. This week’s Photo of the Week comes from Kuang Si Falls just outside of Luang Prabang, and it is pretty spectacular. Our visit to the Falls reminded us just how beautiful nature can be.

THIS WEEK’S WINNER.
Kuang Si Falls looks like something mystical from Middle Earth.

This was a real highlight of our visit to Luang Prabang, and Laos more generally. As the wall of water surges down the mountain, green turns to turquoise and the water calms. The stunning natural pools at the very bottom of the falls are revitalising, yet tantalisingly cold. This time of year is very hot in Laos, and a dip in these waters is unbeatable.
